In the back corner of the Moron Mountain Main District is a seedy looking tent. So seedy that most people might be too intimidated by it's outward appearance.

But if you brave into the tent, you will feel transported to another place entirely as you will find yourself in a ritzy, if smokey, casino. After the initial shock, you'll realize that it's completely empty besides you... and King Dice, dealing at Blackjack table. With the coins you keep waking up with, it seems to be a valuable use for them.

Even for those who have never gambled before, they will find out that, for a dealer, King Dice seems to lose a lot at this game. Nine times out of ten, your character will hit the jackpot and will wind up with something nice, maybe even something from home! But that tenth time...

Well... do you feel lucky?

What is the Blackjack Table?
The Blackjack table is in the casino tent. Every time you use a token, you will play against King Dice for a chance to win a prize! Thankfully, even if you lose Blackjack, King Dice is a nice enough guy to still give you a consolation prize! ... however whether it's a prize you even want is...

Every so often, you will wake up with a token on your character's bedside table. These will be used to play against King Dice.

How do we earn tokens?
ICly, it's a mystery. OOCly, tokens are awarded for every 20-comment thread (10 comments per person) between player characters you submit here. The only threads you cannot submit are those that take place during investigations, trials and motive announcements are eligible for a coin. Threads with NPCs are eligible for coins as well, but these threads must take place in public (i.e. you can't submit any letters/private threads with the host for coins).

How do they work?
A token earns you one round of Blackjack, and you play against him for a decent item. This may be one of your regains, somebody else's regain, a piece of junk, or an even worse piece of junk. This is all determined by RNG (there are three item groups, regains, normal items, and "consolation prizes". each item in those groups has an assigned number. we roll first to see if you're getting a regain, normal, or consolation item, and then we roll to figure out exactly what you're getting.)

Do we have to thread out the Blackjack game to get regains?
Nope!  While you're welcome to talk to King Dice whenever, basic conversations while playing Blackjack will be handwaved for simplicity on both ends.  If you want a more in depth conversation (whether it be asking him questions or attempting social links), we'll be happy to thread it out!  However, in that case we request you to put up a thread on the main comm and not here.

Do the threads I use/my coins have to be from this week?
Eligible threads never expire. For example, you can still submit week 1/intro log threads long after those periods end.

Can we use our coins to opt out of death rolls?
Nah. Gambling kills.

My threadmate turned in our thread already. Do I have to turn it in too to get a coin?
Yes

How do threads with more than two people work?
In order to be able to redeem a thread, your character has to have contributed the minimum 10 comments normally in a standard coin thread. For instance, in order for all parties to be able to submit it, a 3-person thread has to be 30+ comments with at least 10 from each person, a 4-person has to be 40+, etc. Any participant with at least 10 comments can submit it for coin so long as the thread is at least 20 comments total.

The character I was threading with died. Can I still get paid for interacting with them?
Yep! Dead characters can no longer redeem coins, but you can submit the threads anyway.

"In the corner of the casino there's a single slot machine, dusty and ancient, with an unusually large prize slot. From day one, even those who have no interest in gambling will find themselves strangely drawn to it. But, since you have no money to gamble on it, it's entirely useless... that is, until you find yourself with strange tokens on your bedside table on morning.

For those who venture to gamble, they will quickly find out that every roll gets you a win, but instead of money, strange objects pop out of the machine. It may be food, trinkets from home, or something that's completely useless to you. But hey, it's not really gambling if you will always get something you want, right?"

What is the Slot Machine?
Every time you insert a token a prize pops out - whether or not it's something useful is up for debate, but they're all items one normally does not expect to come out of this machine. Every so often, tokens will show up by your character's bedside. These can be used for the slot machine.

This eerie penny press lies in the back of the game room, silent and collecting dust. It looks almost like any other penny press except it only asks for "1 token" and the dispense slot seem unnaturally large for a regular penny press.

You have all these tokens on you, why not get yourself a cheap souvenir as a reminder of your stay in this hotel. Maybe you'll even find something useful. Or not, but isn't that all a part of the fun?
